It’s Bridal Couture for Miss Piggy – Eco Bridal Couture that is, thanks to Vivienne Westwood
It looks like Miss Piggy is going green! – oh right, thats kind of old news, isn’t it (given you know, Kermit and all…) but in this instance, I’m referring to the fact that iconic fashion designer Vivienne Westwood was chosen to create an Eco couture wedding dress for the “devine diva” who is expected to wed Kermit the Frog, the love of her life, during the Muppets Most Wanted Movie (opening March 21st). The two were apparently married during the Muppets Take Manhattan movie, but questions arose as to the legality of that ceremony. So, if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again!
As for Miss Piggy’s choice of designer well, in her own words “Vivienne Westwood is fabulous—just like moi,” said Miss Piggy. “When I asked her to design this wedding dress for moi’s new movie “Muppets Most Wanted,” she was thrilled and I was thrilled. The only one a bit ‘iffy’ about it was the Frog.”
According to Vivienne Westwood, the dress is “called the Court dress, and is inspired by 17th-century English royalty and the court of King Charles II.” The dress will feature corset detailing and paillettes, and will be adorned by a floor length ivory tulle veil. The long gown will don a huge train, and will be made of a pearl sequined fabric made from recycled plastic bottles.
Although the “volatile vixen” will be wearing the gown in the movie, it remains to be seen whether the on again off again twosome will actually make it down the isle and into
nuptial bliss hog heaven. When asked about it, the surly sow coyly replied “ You’ll have to see the movie to find out.”
So, will Miss Piggy, be starting a new trend for wedding dresses made with recycled plastic bottle fabric? Only time will tell. For me, I tend to prefer the more natural sustainable fabrics like organic cotton and peace silk. I think I’d be a little wary of getting too close to any heat sources if I were wearing fabric made with “recycled plastic bottles”, though it is a great way to keep that nasty plastic out of landfills and the ocean!
The movie also stars Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais. Click here for the trailer
