And the winner of the Golden Globe is …. Chopard???

golden globes Cate blanchette w earringsThe 2014 edition of the Golden Globes was held in Los Angeles last week, featuring
Hollywood’s biggest names displaying their “fashion best” on the red carpet.  Among the winners were American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave and Dallas Buyers Club.  But Chopard, renown as one of the world’s top jewelry and watchmakers, was also a big winner as it had the enviable opportunity to have one of the latest items from its Sustainable Green Carpet Collection on prominent display in front of a global television audience of over 20 million, as Cate Blanchett, who was wearing a Chopard creation took center stage to accept her Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Drama.

Held in high esteem for her body of work, the reluctant fashion icon has also been recognized for her style on the red carpet and once again, she did not disappoint, appearing on more than a few of the Golden Globes Best Dressed lists.  Cate wore a black lace and tulle Armani Prive gown with a deep backless cutout and her hair, in a faux bob, set slightly off the face, provided the perfect canvas for the latest jewel, so to speak, in Chopard’s  collection.

The wreath shaped earrings feature 72 marquise cut white diamonds set in fair mined 18 carat white gold.  The gold comes from artisanal mines in South America that have been certified by the Alliance for Responsible Mining.  The diamonds are sourced from the IGC Group, one of the world’s oldest diamond companies, with the origin of the diamonds being certified to the high standards of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC).

Chopard first debuted their Green Carpet Collection at the 2013 Cannes International Film Festival as part of their journey towards sustainable luxury, a journey with a prime objective is to address the inequities throughout its supply chain in order to make sustainability an inextricable part of the Chopard brand.

I love when companies realize that a “luxury” is not really a “luxury” if someone gets hurt or something gets destroyed in the process.

Welcome to the Green Side Chopard!
