Lights.. camera..action! The Hazelton Hotel set to welcome movie industry insiders for TIFF
Yes it’s that time of the year again… as the end of summer nears in Toronto, the movie madness which is TIFF, ( Toronto International Film Festival) begins. Located in the heart of Yorkville, The Hazelton Hotel, selected by Conde Nast as one of the world’s top hotels, is getting ready to welcome film industry royalty. The spacious rooms with high ceilings and numerous features including the latest in technology ensure a lavish surrounding and stay.
Whether guests are aware of it or not, the 5 star facility has an environmental conscience. A link to Hazelton Hotel’s environmental initiatives is placed on the 1st page of its website and includes energy conservation and recycling measures. As well, guests are treated to amenities by L’Occitane en Provence, a company committed to an organic and natural approach (though I’d much rather see them ban the use of parabens and other preservatives instead of “limiting” their use).
Hazelton Hotel also provides a memorable dining experience 24/7 with reknown restaurateur and chef Mark McEwan’s One restaurant on the premises. Here, guests can enjoy exceptional cuisine made with the finest ingredients, organic and local wherever possible.
Although there are greener luxury hotels, they are few and far between and we applaud Hazelton Hotel for the steps it has taken and look forward to more in the future, perhaps as more guests begin demanding it.
I have to say though that I’m a little disappointed the hotel isn’t using organic cotton linens, especially given its 5 stars. I mean what is luxury if not being pampered with the finest of the finest. And if you were to choose, which would you prefer next to your skin; chemical laden 300 TC cotton sheets or chemical free 600 TC sheets made with pure organic cotton?
(Note to management: if you want to move in this direction we know of some beautiful organic cotton or eco silk linens – we‘d be happy to hook you up!)
