House of Ferragamo Goes Green!
The iconic Italian luxury goods fashion house Ferragamo is going green with the introduction of Eco Ferragamo, a line of sustainable handbags. There may be some dispute regarding their “green” status given they are made of leather but they are created using an exclusive non-toxic tanning technique that uses dyes from tree bark. The method is certified by the German institute SG – Mark guaranteeing that no environmentally harmful substances have been used based on 10 strict parameters. The bags are also lined with hemp, are biodegradable and water resistant.
The collection which will feature 5 classic shapes will be available worldwide starting in February ‘09. Prices will range from $1,190 to $1,890 (via wwd)
Now let’s work on greening those shoes!
